Our farm is home to over 600 heritage breed chickens that are raised on pasture and certified organic feed. It is our belief that heritage breed chickens, the kind of chickens you might have seen on a farm 100 years ago, are better foragers and therefore produce a better tasting, more nutritious egg.
We carefully selected the breed of sheep we raise on our farm. Icelandic sheep are triple purpose, suitable for meat, milk and fiber production; however, in Iceland they are raised principally for their meat, which is considered of gourmet quality. Our sheep are raised on pasture using intense rotational grazing practices. All cuts are processed in a USDA inspected, animal welfare certified processing facility and available for sale in our farm store.
Pasture Raised Pork
In an effort to compete with chicken and become the other white meat, today’s pork has lost much of the flavor that pork was once known for. Our country’s production-oriented model has pushed most pigs to be raised indoors on concrete and slated floors. At our farm, we raise heritage breed pigs on pasture. Our Tamworth pigs, a heritage breed from England, are raised in a natural environment with access to organic feed, which allows them to thrive, resulting in meat that is extremely flavorful and nutritious.
Pasture Raised Chicken
Our chicks are raised at our farm from May through November. We raise our chickens on pasture and organic feed. Having full access to pasture and being raised outdoors provides a truly special culinary experience for our customers. Our birds are USDA processed and provided to you fresh or frozen throughout the season.
Organically Grown Produce
Our two-acre garden produces an array of vegetables during the summer and early fall. We grow a variety of wonderful produce that is never treated with any herbicides, pesticides or fungicides, just rich compost from our animals. In selecting the produce we grow, we focus on those varieties that offer the best nutritional profile and culinary experience.
Our Product Partners
We know how difficult it is to be a sustainable small farm and small business, and that is why we look to support other farmers and food artisans who share our food philosophy and are passionate about what they do. In addition to our own farm products, we bring some of these products to you. Our pledge in this regard, is that we will always know exactly how a product is made or an animal is raised. We will know the farmer or artisan and their process and beliefs. We look to provide something truly special to you. We love food and when we make a food find, we are so excited to share it with our customers.
Our sheep get shorn twice a year. We take this wonderful fiber from our sheep and turn it into a variety of items including, roving and yarn. But we don’t stop there. We know that not everyone can pick up knitting needles and turn out a great hat or scarf so that is why we work with knitters to produce ready to wear items for our farm store. Also available in our farm store is our wool bedding collection and hand woven rugs.
